9 am swim / hot tub / workout Lake Shore Lodge & Spa
At this hour we have the pool all to ourselves. Fast, complimentary WiFI. Excellent free coffee and chocolate available all day in the lounge. Redwood dry sauna is private. Fans used to cool, no AC. 1 and 2 bedroom condos also available. Great location.

11:30 am breakfast La Promesa (Mexican)
Where the locals eat. Super convenient — located in the Bijou Shopping Center 100′ from our lodge. Family owned and operated, they’ve been serving authentic Mexican food for 10 years: 60+ authentic dishes including fresh baked Mexican desserts and traditional Aquas Frescas. We share huevos rancheros, served with rice, refried beans, hot tortillas and ½ avocado as side — leaves us satiated and fueled for the day ahead.

1 pm visit Tahoe Trout Farm
Tahoe’s best fishing spot, and the only Trout Farm in Lake Tahoe. It dates back to 1946, has become a tradition, and is a must-see for kids and adults alike. Stocked with rainbows and browns, the 2 ponds are fed fresh well water and continually aerated to provide the clean environment trout demand. Jim Vallier, who fished here as a kid in the 50’s, became the owner three years ago to maintain the tradition and experience into the future. This is “old Tahoe”.

Whether your kids want to catch their first fish or you simply want to have a fresh catch for the grill, this is the place to come for straightforward fishing fun. Everything you need is provided. No license, no limit, free admission, bait and tackle….pay only for what you catch. Catch and release available. For those who just want to watch, like us, there is a deck with a view of the meadow and mountains. From here or from one of the benches all around the pond you can watch the excitement of the catch. Fantastic way to end our Tahoe visit!

Tricky to find. Signs on only one side of road. We missed and had to turn around. Turn off Hwy 50 opposite Meeks Lumber.

2:30 pm farewell ice cream treats at Red Hut Soda Fountain & Ice Cream Parlor
Back to Red’s Ice Cream Parlor for a final treat before heading out. Two scoops of vanilla, chocolate & caramel syrup, whipped cream, chopped nuts and a cherry =

3 pm long drive home
Photo-ops along way.

6:43 pm stop to shop Good Earth Produce Vacaville
Traffic is slow so we stop to stretch our legs, change drivers and buy food at this colorful food stand along the way.
