Black Cab taxi waiting outside takes us to RoissyBus\u00a0stop at\u00a0Place de l\u2019Op\u00e9ra for pleasant 1 hour ride to\u00a0Charles de Gaulle Airport.<\/p>\n

3:45 pm<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0fly Paris to Dublin\u00a0Airport<\/a>
\n<\/a><\/strong><\/strong>Departing from Charles de Gaulle Airport, we\u00a0pick up a time zone hour en route and arrive Dublin 4:30 pm.<\/p>\n

5:30 pm<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Airport bus drops us at entrance to Trinity College. Turns out this is an error! Only 4 short stops\u00a0and we would have been dropped off at the hotel door. Live and learn. So we take a long walk through the bustle of Dublin at rush hour, alongsides Trinity College. Our initial impression is one of an endless chain of double decker buses in each direction.<\/p>\n

6 pm<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0check into\u00a0Davenport<\/a>\u00a0Hotel<\/a>
\n<\/strong>Location,\u00a0location, location! Great travellers hotel. Right in the heart of Dublin – near Trinity College, tourist bureau, buses, bridges over river, main square,\u00a0everything.\u00a0Staff very helpful. Our room on second floor looks out on where Oscar Wilde lived as a student at Trinity College. We make ourselves\u00a0at home and look through the Dublin attractions booklet left for our arrival. Lots to see and do here — let’s get to it!<\/p>\n

7 pm<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0walk around central Dublin and gawk at everything
\nAs we always do in a new (to us) city, we go walking\/exploring. Dublin is a pedestrian delight, very walkable, though the endless stream of double-decker busses is oddly hypnotic and we have to pay careful attention to where we step.\u00a0We stroll down Nassau Street alongside Trinity College, turn left onto wide, pedestrian-friendly Grafton Street, (one of the two principal shopping streets in Dublin city center). Left onto North, left again onto wide, trendy Dawson Street. We are now\u00a0in the heart of Georgian Dublin, on Dublin\u2019s most stylish boulevard\u00a0as we look for a place to eat.<\/p>\n

8:30 pm<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0drinks\/dinner\u00a0Caf\u00e9 en Seine<\/a>
\nVery unprepossessing from the outside. But inside, perhaps one of the most spectacular bars in Europe! Opulent decor, soaring interior, vibrant atmosphere – an immersive, visual experience.\u00a0We enjoy a slow pint, tasty food, some chilled-out jazz, before reluctantly heading back to our hotel. Unique in both ambience and style, a must see — and a great start to our Dublin visit!<\/p>\n
