Day 1

leisurely drive through Sonoma to Sonoma Square and arrive early afternoon.
We’ve arranged an apartment through Airbnb. Key is under the doormat — we go in, unpack quickly, change into festive garb and are off on our film festival adventure.

4 pm drive briefly around Sonoma Square area before heading over to our first event.
Sky looks ominous as it starts to cloud up. Sure enough it starts pouring just as we’re on our way. Glad we packed/took our rain gear.

5:30 pm attend Opening Night Reception in The Backlot Tent at center of Sonoma Square
Wine, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, people melee, growing hubbub. Wonderful start, but we have to get to the kickoff film.

7:30 pm see opening night program feature Dom Heminway at Sebastiani Theatre
(Alternate opening feature Beside Still Waters is also showing at Andrews Hall.)

10 pm stop by Opening Night After Party at The Backlot Tent
